The Community Research Assistant Program gives students the opportunity to conduct research for the Collaborative’s partners – non-profit organizations throughout New Brunswick and New Jersey. Community Based Research is a partnership of students, faculty and community members who collaboratively engage in research with the purpose of solving a pressing community problem or effecting social change.

By participating in this program, students will research policies and model programs, evaluate best practices, and ultimately help organizations become more effective in serving their communities. These projects can include historical research for Rutgers Gardens, researching the intersection of homelessness and domestic violence, healthy food access in New Brunswick, among other topics still in development. The program is 1-2 credits, depending on the scope of the project. Students will participate in CESEP recitations.

The Program is funded through an AmeriCorps VISTA grant through the College of New Jersey and is part of the Bonner Foundation's Community Connectors/Policy Options Initiative.
